Apex 32″ Class 720p 60Hz LCD HDTV – Black (LD3249) Review

This TV has an amazing picture, pure and simple. Yes it does support 1080p, but its not its native resolution so there’s really no need even though it does look really nice. The remote is rather mediocre at best. It does what needs to be done but its signal must be rather weak because it has to be pointed directly at the sensor to work. This TV does have a problem with universal remotes. There just arent any working codes for this. For an easy work around you can just buy a learning remote. Sony sells one cheap. For Dish Network subscribers, you can buy a 21.0 IR/UHF PRO learning remote. I got one for less than you can buy a regular universal remote and within a few minutes had it working the TV way better than any basic universal remote, or even the stock remote ever could. I went from being happy before I found this remote to just all out pleased afterwards. It’s a good TV too, by the way, and there aren’t many that are cheaper than this in this size.

Universal Remote Code – R. Dijkman Dulkes – Lebanon, NH USA
I have a DirecTV remote RC64R. The (unpublished) code to use with this remote is 11531. Works perfectly!
According to the forum that I found this on this code works also on RC64 and RC65 remotes.
Not bad at all. – David P. Callan –
The tv works as intended. Nice picture. We use it on a dresser in the bedroom. However, there are three issues with the unit. First, the tv cannot be controlled with an att uverse universal remote. The ir profile is not included by att. It cost an additional to buy a new logitech harmony, which works very well. Secondly, there is no headphone port. I realized this to my dismay after buying wireless headphones. I thought all tvs came with a port. Maybe I’m too old. Thirdly, the spacing between mounting screws on the back is too wide for the stock 32″ mounting bracket (hence the tv on the dresser) and you need to buy a beefier 40?” Kit. I’m not sure which one you need to buy because I gave up in disgust. Too much work today just to watch tv.
Another runaround – rainbow – all over
Box came on time, but without the remote control unit. Bought as a Christmas present and I am still trying, in vain, to get the remote control unit. Customer service with Apex has been a joke. Will never buy another Apex. In the meantime, I bought a universal Sony remote, which works well on controlling everything I have EXCEPT for the Apex t.v. I tell you, this thing is jinxed. If I had a remote, things might be different. Maybe by next Christmas . . .
